Awhile back I had the chance to talk with a woman who survived a knife attack inside in her home. I asked her, "Would you share with me the most important skills you used to stop this guy?"

She squinted her eyes and said, "I can’t remember what I did, but I know what I thought about. I saw my five-year-old daughter going through life without me. It was a like a dream in my head. I was in the clouds looking down at her."

"I watched her grow up, graduate from college, get married, play with her kids, all without me, and that's when I did whatever it took to escape." (One thing she did to block the knife was she ripped off a toilet seat lid to use as a shield - :)

That's when I realized our compelling thoughts (along with spontaneous breathing) not so much fancy techniques shatter the "freeze of fear" and motivate us to do acts of courage and strength we've never dreamed possible.

"Word of mouth" is the only way we can afford to help people. Not sure if this makes sense for a company, organization, school, church or any group you know about, but thought it might. If it does...
